Bramley’s Jack Richards stepped into the boxing ring for the fourth time and came out ten minutes later with his first win.

Jack beat opponent Curtis Westerman over three rounds in a white-collar boxing event at Leeds Armouries organised by Ultra WCB.

“I finally won,” said an elated Jack immediately after his bout. “It’ll take a while to sink in. It’s beyond amazing. I’ll have made my family and friends proud.

“My motivation has always been to benefit myself and others. The whole ethos of Ultra WCB is accepting a personal challenge, seeing how you do and raising money for charities. I chose Andy’s Man Club which does great work as so many young men in are struggling with their mental health. But there’s still no feeling as good as getting the win.”

Former Leeds West Academy student Jack, 21, works in office-based sales.

“To get on the show you have an eight-week training course which is highly intense but highly beneficial and prepares you well for the fight. This time I did some extra preparation with Paul O’Rourke at Camp Detox in Wortley along with my twin brother.

“The next step for me is hopefully to get bouts on more local shows and build a fanbase. I just love everything about boxing. It’s the best way of dealing with problems and issues. The training is brilliant for fitness and losing weight and you’ll meet many fantastic people and make new friends for life. Give it a go.”
