Ultra White Collar Boxing sees Buse Sevimli fight in dad’s memory

Stepping into the boxing ring isn’t an everyday way to cope with grief, but one woman decided to do just that.

Buse Sevimli, 24, from Edmonton, took part in an Ultra White Collar Boxing (UWCB) event in March after losing her father, Umit Sevimli, to cancer last year.

Looking for a way to channel her energy and honour her father, she signed up for the UWCB event and trained for eight weeks at KO Boxing Gym.

Buse said: “I experienced a tragedy last year with the loss of my father and it really took its toll on me.

“I’d always been an active person – it was my dad who would often take me to play sports – but I really lost my motivation and got into a bit of a dark place.”

The experience was challenging and came during Ramadan.
