FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

So you are thinking about signing up to box in one of our Ultra White Collar Boxing events. Here's some information to answer some of the common frequently asked questions.

+ WHAT WILL TRAINING BE LIKE?

Be prepared to be put through the paces. It will be hard, but it will be the most rewarding thing that you will do and will give you a sense of achievement.

Training will be approximately 2 sessions a week and will be weekday evenings or weekends.

You must attend at least 50% of the training sessions to take part.

Details about the training sessions will be released at the Registration Meeting and followed up in your allocated Facebook group.

+ WHAT KIT DO I NEED TO BUY?

You will need 16oz gloves, hand wraps and a gum shield for training. For fight night you will need to buy Shorts and a Groin Guard. Ultra White Collar Boxing will provide vests, gloves & head guards on the event night.

All equipment is available to buy from our shop.

+ WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME?

You are expected to commit to 8 weeks training and attend at least 50% of the training sessions. We want you to:

  • Work hard & enjoy yourself.
  • Use the 'I am Boxing' Facebook cover image.
  • Pledge to raise a suggested minimum of £50 for UK-based charity via a JustGiving page
  • Sell a minimum of 10 tickets to friends and family (this can be standard, VIP or a combination).
  • 16oz gloves, hand wraps and a gum shield for training (these are available from our shop)
  • Shorts and a Groin Guard for fight night (these are available from our shop).
  • Attend your Registration Meeting. This will either be virtual or face to face. All details can be found in your Facebook Group.
  • Attend the sparring sessions, your Area Coordinator will have the details on these.
  • Attend the final weigh-in date so that you can be matched up as accurately as possible. The more sessions you attend, the more effective the matching process will be.

+ WHAT WILL THE EVENT BE LIKE?

The event will be well run and organised, with the medical provision the same as professional boxing. It will be a glamorous black tie event, and will make you feel like a superstar on the night.

+ I'VE SIGNED UP, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

  1. You will receive a confirmation text and email from us inviting you to join a Facebook group. Please make sure you join this group as information will be posted in there across the 8 weeks.
  2. We will email you with details to setup your JustGiving page.
  3. You will receive a text from your Area Coordinator within 14 days of signing up.
  4. We will invite you along to a registration meeting where we will give you all of the information about the process and give you chance to ask any questions.
  5. Training starts!

When you sign up an account will be created for you. You can find all Ultra events you have sign up for in your Ultra account. Your account page will also display links to the event Facebook page, JustGiving link and much more. Login to your Ultra account here. If you have trouble accessing your account for the first time, select the reset password option and follow the instructions.

+ Ultra-Hub account: How do I fill out my PAR-Q form?

When you signed up, you would have received an automated email from Ultra White Collar Boxing with the Subject - CONGRATULATIONS - you are taking part in UWCB!

On that email at the bottom there is a section about your individual account. If you have not received this email, I would suggest checking your junk or spam.

Once you have logged in you will be able to view your details and fill out your PARQ (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire). This must be completed before you start training.

Once the form is complete, a green tick will be displayed.

+ Ultra-Hub account: How do I order my vest?

Once logged in, you’ll be able to view your details and order your vest under the ‘Event Details’ section.

This is also where you can submit your chosen boxer name—this will be printed on your UWCB vest and announced as you enter the ring. If you have any sponsors, you can upload their logos here too, and they’ll be printed on the back of your vest.

+ CAN MY COMPANY SUPPORT ME?

If you have a company that would like to support you, they can donate to your JustGiving page, suggested donation is £50. If you would like a chosen company to represent you on the event, there is an option to have a company logo printed on your vest and be mentioned throughout the night. You will need to upload the company logo when completing your vest order on the Ultra Hub account. You can be sponsored by multiple companies at once.

+ HOW DO I SET UP JUSTGIVING?

When you sign up you will receive an email from our fundraising team with details to setup your JustGiving page.

Alternatively, please visit ultraevents.co/fundraising, search for your event and click the JustGiving button to create your fundraising page.

You can select any UK registered charity of your choice, as long as they are registered on JustGiving. Our favourite four are: The Mental Health Foundation, Cancer Research UK, British Heart Foundation and Make A Wish.

+ Ticket Information

Standard tickets are £25 each, these are early bird prices, these will increase 4 weeks before the event and again a week before the event. VIP tables of 10 can be reserved with a deposit where available. There are only a limited number available and they always sell out.

Tickets can be bought from your area representative or on Ultra Tickets.

Buy Tickets

When purchasing tickets, your guests will be asked at checkout who they intend to support, please ensure they put your full name so that these can be allocated accurately. If you would like an update on how many tickets you have sold so far, please contact your Area Coordinator.

Tickets usually go on sale the Friday before your training starts. Your exact date and time will be given during the Registration meeting or on the Facebook Group page.

Tickets are strictly non-refundable or transferable, we do not offer a replacement ticket service for lost or stolen tickets. Unfortunately, due to logistical reasons, ticket sales end at midnight on the day of the event, we do not sell tickets on the door of our events.

Please present your ticket at the door for entry. If you have purchased a VIP Table, the lead member of your table will have been issued with VIP Wristbands. Please ensure you are wearing your wristband, as this is your ticket.

+ WHEN WILL THE WEIGH IN BE?

The weigh in will be a few days before your event. You are required to attend the weigh in to find out who your opponent will be, have face off photos taken and find out which colour corner you will represent.

+ WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE LIMIT TO TAKE PART?

The minimum age required is 18. Everyone who wishes to attend the events must also be over 18.

+ HOW WILL I BE MATCHED WITH MY OPPONENT?

You will train as a group for 8 weeks. At the end of the training, you will be matched with somebody else from that group who is a similar weight, ability, fitness and age to you. We ensure the fairest matches possible at all of our events. You are matched a couple of days before the event, ensure that you attend the final weigh-in date so that you can be matched up as accurately as possible. Attend as many sessions as you can.

+ CAN I GET ADVICE ON NUTRITION?

+ CAN I GET ADVICE ON EXTRA TRAINING?

+ DOOR OPENING TIMES?

Door opening times will vary depending on the location. Check the event details on the ticket page and on your e-tickets. We cannot guarantee the finishing times of our events.

+ Can I have my own corner team?

No. UWCB will provide you with a corner team for your safety.

+ WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE?

Our events enforce a VERY formal, strict dress code policy; the minimum for men is shirt, tie, tailored trousers or kilts and smart shoes. The minimum for ladies is cocktail dress, occasion-wear jumpsuits or tailored skirt/trousers with blouse and formal footwear.

Please do not wear any of the following; jeans, chinos, checked casual shirts, polo shirts or trainers.

+ Are there any age restrictions?

The minimum age to take part in the event is 18, there is no upper-age limit. Everyone who wishes to attend the events must also be over 18. We operate a challenge 25 policy, so if you're lucky enough to look under 25 please bring a valid form of I.D.
